Photography

I’m a keen amateur photographer. I shoot with a Canon 1000D Digital SLR, normally fitted with a 50mm prime lens.

Although the lens is a fixed focal length of 50mm, it’s incredibly fast and bright. The ability to open the aperture up to f1.8 means some fantastic results, great colour – even in low light – and a lovely shallow depth of field.

The other advantage of a fixed lens is that it’s great for candid photography – all I have to worry about is focusing, there’s no zooming in and out to do. It’s also relatively discreet for an SLR lens.

I try to do as little post-production work on my photos as possible – except for cropping and brightness & contrast tweaks – I’d like to think there’s still such a thing a happy accident in digital photography.
